White - Silent (Illustration Friday)

THE SNOW had begun in the gloaming,
                                             And busily all the night
Had been heaping field and highway
With a silence deep and white.

                                                          James Russell Lowell

This morning we were greeted with a heavy blizzard, erasing horizon painting sky and earth white

This weeks topic on illustration Friday is silent. Just like the land is silent this morning, hushed with snow, so my mind gets hushed in peace when I'm surrounded with silence.

Being alone - even just for a moment, restores my spirit. Being silent, sitting surrounded by silence - that was the inspiration for the above painting.

Painted in oil and using a scrap of candy wrapper for the chair, her soul is being restored in white silence

True silence is the rest of the mind; it is to the spirit what sleep is to the body, nourishment and refreshment.  ~William Penn

You can hear the footsteps of God when silence reigns in the mind.  ~Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find a moment of refreshing silence this morning
