daydreaming about vintage motorhomes

While looking for ideas for our 1970's trailer I came across these

and then I had an idea!

What if all moms gave up their minivans and got one of these beauties instead :)

Playdates will be that much more fun. Soccer practice can include cooking supper and maybe a nap. Ah the possibilities are endless

Inspiration

We had a wonderful weekend checking out our local winter festivals, which is where I found these two vintage beauties. I simply cannot pass by a beautiful antique tin, and my kids have caught me a few times now hugging and kissing this beauty - oh I am totally in love!

Treasure Hunt - Black and white

My walks lately has become somewhat dreary - as you can see. At one quick glance it all looks pretty much brown. So I decided to challenge myself.

Once a week I will go for a walk chasing colour. I'll pick a colour before heading outdoors and find patterns and interesting objects that catch my eye.

This week it was black and white, next week will be red.

At the end of my treasure hunt I found a package in the mail - all the way from Turkey!
The stamp was so cool I had to use it.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend :)

Inspiration - coffee art

We got a cappucino machine for Christmas.

When I go to bed at night I can hardly wait to wake up, just to smell and taste such an amazing cup of coffee.

With it tasting so good, we've been trying to make it look good too, just like the coffees below - not easy at all! 20 cups down and all we can come up with is a blob of white in the middle ;)

If you ever wanted to try it there are hundreds of tutorials on you tube

And just in case you trip (very likely in my house with all the Christmas toys yet to find a home) and spill that precious coffee, no worries- grab a pen and make even more art. How cool is that!

Inspiration - Snow

Winter is the most magical time for me ...until January and then I find it extremely difficult to stay positive with all this extreme weather.

But this year I'm going to challenge myself. To stay inspired, to stay in awe, to get out there and have just as much fun as my children. These artists have captured the magic of winter so beautifully, so I thought I'd share their creations, words and songs ~ enjoy!

Inspiration - yarn

With fall officially here, my fingers yearn for yarn once more.

I am not good at it by any means, it took me 3 years to crochet my first project - a red scarve - but after seeing all these projects I'm re-inspired to start something new...maybe a blanket or how about some yarn bombing!

Coming across a tree  such as this one on a dreary winter day would make me smile from ear to ear:)

My yellow rose

Look who surprised me this morning!

A gift from above to cheer up this weary soul of mine,

My very first rose...and this after I thought the bush was dead for sure after such a harsh winter

It smells heavenly too - vanilla and citrus mixing together to lift any one's spirits

She does a pretty good job lifting spirits as well! I hope you have a fabulous day, filled with little blessings and gifts from above

cedar waxwing

source
Today was not a good day.

I simply couldn't stay focused on the present, or see my blessings. I went on an emotional rollercoaster all day long feeling so lost.

Then suddenly I saw these. Hundreds of them sitting in our trees. I have never seen them before - how could I miss them!!!

Aren't they beautiful! And for a minute I was lost in their colouring. I imagined God making them up in His studio. Sculpting the body, probably using watercolours for the fine feathers and then dipping the final product in a pot of thick yellow paint for the tail, and red for the wings. Finally he took a big black Sharpie and coloured in the eyes. At least that's what I would have done.

I can't wait to see them again tomorrow, and hopefully it is a better day.

Dandelion

To Me : : It is a chore, an eyesore, something to get rid off in order to see the beauty in our yard - a weed

To Her :: It is a meadow fit for a princess skipping about, picking bundles of glorious yellow flowers, only to hide them behind her back and say -  "I got a surprise for you mommy" (She can do this over and over all day)

To Her :: It is fuzz balls to blow, chase and play with. The oohs and aaahs when a dandelion is in seed are endless.

To Her :: It is beautiful

and so I too decided to put on her innocent 4 year old glasses, and see for myself.

It truly is beautiful. Round middle, spiky interior, fuzzy top. Each little seed being planted with such a dramatic flight.

I for one will consider myself very lucky to live in a meadow full with such beauty... and while everyone else is trying to get rid of them, I will pick them, blow on them and make a wish

Colour therapy

When the going gets tough...

I can't help but be attracted to really bright colours.

Bright reds, pinks, blues, yellows, greens and teals.

They cheer me up and lift me up somehow.

I start wearing teal, decorate my house in pops of reds and fill my canvasses with pinks and yellows. The brighter my surroundings become, the better I start to feel.

One of my favourite ways to get a healthy dose of colour is to visit this lovely blog

                                                colormekatie

And while we are still fighting this fever I think supper will include a whole bunch of colour as well

        Have a bright day everyone!

runaway dogs

The other day I chased my dog (who was chasing a cat) for the umpteenth time through my neighbour's yard. Then I saw this...

Isn't it beautiful

All those flowers reminded me of vintage flowery swim caps,

Which of course reminded me of vintage bathing beauties

Well thank goodness for runaway dogs! Have a beautiful summery day everyone

Fire dancing - Art in the Sky

                                                                      By derdanyo

This art form took me completely by surprise.

When I read about the evening entertainment at our resort I knew there would be dancing and there would be fire.

What I did not expect was my heart stopping my jaw dropping and my mind exploding at the pure beauty of this art form.

I was completely mesmerized.

Drawings in the sky to the beat of music.

Two art forms combining. And I can't get enough!
