Barbie 1950 Retro

The theme at Inspiration Alley this week is SO up my alley - Retro! I love all things vintage inspired. If it has a scratch on it, peeling paint or a bit of rust I hold on to that treasure and admire it for all the stories it could tell. One item I do not own yet, but have been on the lookout for is the 1950's Barbie! Just look at her...and that stripey bathing suit!

And so my art this week is completely inspired by her :)

The sepia and payne's grey of your palette give a great vintage feel to your bathing dress girl. I love the way you have created the background, and your whole composition. I'm so glad a friend has just directed me to Inspiration Avenue and suggested I post something. Your artwork is lovely and very reminiscent - I was there and wore a bathing costume of just that design, but different pattern. Thanks for the memory!

Barbie was such fun, and I love your updated take on her. As others have said, the color palette you used is wonderful ~ refreshing and unexpected!

My Barbie from the early 60s was the bubble-haired variety. So funny that her feet were permanently high-heel-shaped! Ouch!

Happy PPF,
and thanks so much for playing with us at Inspiration Avenue!

Love where you took this assignment. So glad you showed your process too. It's fun to take one thing as the spring board and go in your own direction. Nice.

I think your Barby is more real, exotic and interesting than real. Saludos

This is so beautiful, and to be honest she is far more beautiful than Barbie (sorry Barbie)I gave my !960s barbie a haircut, it wasn't good and unfortunately it never grew back :)
